Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What kind of fence do I need?
A: First you need to decide on function. Do you require privacy, or safety around a pool, retain pets or prevent access to your property? You should consider aesthetics, durability and location. Approximate budget and time of installation are additional considerations. Fences are available in many styles and materials. We are pleased to discuss your needs, and explain the advantages of various materials.

Q: Do I need to check my local building codes?
A: Since building codes vary by county, city and subdivision it's a good idea to check with your local building department regarding codes, setbacks, heights and materials. In almost any case we can answer these questions for you.

Q: What kind of fence materials do you use?
A: We offer wood, ornamental iron and aluminum, chain link, and PVC. We also carry a large inventory of garden and agricultural fencing products.

Q: What is pressure treated wood?
A: Pressure treated wood has been chemically treated to discourage insect and moisture damage. We have this material in posts and also in fences.

Q: If I wish to install the fence myself, can I buy just the materials from you?
A: Certainly. We encourage the do-it-yourself customer. Our staff can assist you in determining your needs and are happy to answer your questions about installation.

Q: Why should I choose Williams Fence co. to be my fence contractor ?
A: We have been building fences since 1965. We offer expert expert installation and the highest quality products available. We are fully insured and are members of the American Fence Association.

Q: What kind of warranty do you offer?
A: The warranty will depend on the type of materials you choose for your fence. This can vary from a lifetime warranty on PVC and aluminum to 15 years for vinyl coated chain link. We offer a limited warranty on labor for one year.

Do-it-Yourself

Williams Fence Co. encourages the Do It Yourselfers. We offer comprehensive printed instructions in order to facilitate installation of our fencing products. We are available by fax, phone or E mail, to answer your questions.

To Begin:

  1. Measure the distances of the runs of the perimeter of your fence. Make a diagram showing where the fence is to be installed. Use dots to indicate the placement of end posts, corner posts, and gate posts.
  2. Indicate the main function the fence will perform; e.g. swimming pool enclosure, animal enclosure, privacy etc.
  3. Choose your preferred style and material.

Ground conditions should be considered for digging purposes. We recommend 30" depth for most posts. Most rental stores carry power or manual digging tools. Send us a copy of your layout and we will be pleased to respond with a materials list , a cost estimate for your project, and recommendations that will assist you.
